There are five primary areas where organizations can make changes to help reduce the likelihood of sexual abuse:

  • screening staff and volunteers
  • defining boundaries between persons
  • training staff and volunteers
  • reducing environmental opportunities for abuse
  • removing barriers to reporting suspected abuse
